Broadcast Messaging System

What is a Broadcast Messaging System?

A broadcast messaging system is a one-way communication system that broadcasts (quickly informs) a one-time message to all or some affiliates.

What is the difference between a Broadcast Messaging System and an Affiliate Support System?

A broadcast messaging system is a one-way only communication that is always initiated from the merchant side. An affiliate support system is a two-way communication system and is likely to be initiated from the affiliate end.

When is it used?

You may need to pass some general information or notice to all of your affiliates on a routine basis, perhaps every week or perhaps every month. Examples of the type of information to be communicated can include a discount code to pass on or notification that some system upgrade work is planned.

When you have hundreds of affiliates it may not be possible for you to email each one separately to pass on general information. In such cases, you can communicate in one of two ways:

  • Send a mass mailing message
  • Send a broadcast message

A lot of Mass mailings are sent to the affiliate's "in" inbox, including yours, so there is a good chance yours will be overlooked. However, broadcast messages are displayed on the affiliate's logged homepage. An active affiliate who opens the system at least once a month will never miss your email when he logs on.
